On July 1, 2014 a car bomb exploded in a busy
marketplace. It is really scary to me to
think about how many bombs this one group, Boko Haram, has used in the past few
years. Personally, I think using bombs
is cowardly and unnecessary. The victims
are often innocent and only targeted because the group is generally angry. I don’t think that attacking innocent
bystanders is ever going to help this group accomplish what they are trying.

Suicide Bomber on College Campus
In July 2014 a Boko Haram suicide bomber attacked a college
campus in Nigeria. This article really
bothered me because I am currently on a college campus and I can’t imagine what
would happen if there were a bomber on my campus. I feel like attacking a place where people
are trying to better themselves is a low blow, but it also makes sense that a
group who opposes Western Education would attack a campus.

Women Suicide Bombers
In November 2014 two teenage women blew up themselves along
with 30 others at a crowded market. This
attack was also linked to Boko Haram. It
is interesting to me that this specific group uses women to commit their acts
of terror. It seems to me that most acts
of terrorism are committed by men, but there are many instances in which this
group uses women.

Low Oil Prices Bad?
This article argued that lower oil prices were bad because more
people were going to be on the road which in turn would cause high insurance premiums. I have a hard time agreeing with this article
because I think that for the most part people are conditioned to drive as
little as possible, no matter what the price of petrol fuel is. I think that
the lower oil prices were great because they made it easier for me to travel,
in turn bringing revenue to the cities that I could visit because I could
afford to drive to them.

People Fleeing from Boko Haram
People have been fleeing their homes for fear of Boko
Haram. The religious group is becoming
very violent and they are kidnapping children.
It is interesting to me that a religious group could become so violent
and destructive. They are doing what
they do because they do not believe in Western Education, but it seems to me
that kidnapping children and starting wars isn’t going to help “ban” Western
Education. Upwards of 400,000 people
have fled their homes because of Boko Haram.

American Missionary Kidnapped
An American woman was recently kidnapped in Nigeria. She was working at a missionary when a few
masked gunmen came in and kidnapped her.
Ransom is probably the reason for the kidnapping. It is scary to me that they would kidnap an
innocent woman who is trying to help them just to get money. It makes me worry
about anyone who is travelling to Nigeria

'Seven-year-old girl' kills herself & 5 others
Nigeria is currently fighting with the Islam extremist group
Boko Haram. On February 22, 2015 a girl
who is thought to be about 7 years old killed herself and 5 others in a suicide
bombing. I think it is outrageous that
this group is using children to complete their acts of terrorism. Most groups leave the children out of the
terrorism, but this group seems ruthless.
